New Metals for Buildings brochure available
The International Lead Association, acting on behalf of the European Lead Sheet Industry Association (ELSIA), is working with an alliance of eight other organisations to promote the unique strengths of metal products for recyclable and sustainable buildings.
“Metals for Buildings” represents companies involved in primary metal production, downstream manufacturing and recycled metal. The alliance recently published a new brochure: “Metals for Buildings: Essential and fully Recyclable”. Download the brochure.
Dr Andy Bush, Managing Director of the ILA, commented: “This alliance is particularly relevant to the lead sheet industry and provides an excellent platform to highlight the advantages of lead sheet.”
“Metals have very high rates of recycling. In the case of lead sheet for building, practically all the lead comes from recycled material and then goes back into the recycling loop at the end it life – you can’t get much more sustainable than that.”
Due to their intrinsic properties, metals are widely used in the building and construction sector. They are a first choice material for structures, reinforcements, cladding, roofing, window frames, plumbing, heating equipment and many other applications. Metals can be found in old and historic buildings as well as in new, modern architecture.
Lead sheet and other metal building products are weatherproof, seismic proof, corrosion resistant and immune to the harmful effects of UV rays, ensuring a very long service life without degradation.
When a metallic building product reaches the end of its life, it can be fully recycled. Today, more than 95 per cent of the metallic products used in buildings are collected at end-of-life.
