ILA publishes new case study

Eco-Bat, one of the largest producers of secondary lead, has created Safe for Life, a campaign that is communicated across all its sites to promote safety culture with a view to improving safety performance and reducing injuries among its employees while they recycle lead acid batteries.

Details of the campaign are described in a new case study produced for the ILA. To read the full case study follow this link:

The Safe for Life branding appears on a wide variety of items and in a wide variety of places ensuring the message gets seen by employees everywhere they go including:
• Display screens at Eco-Bat plants
• Handbooks for employees
• Posters near entrances
• On safety helmets
• Sewn onto uniforms

Slogans have also been devised to help ingrain the safety message into the collective consciousness of employees. They include:
• Speak up
• Be aware of risks
• Don’t walk by
• Look out for each other
• Approach each task with fresh eyes
• Don’t cut corners

Andy Banks, Head of HSE for Eco-Bat, explains: “Health and safety is our number one priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe work environment so that we can all go home safely at the end of the working day.
“Safe for Life is about selling safety to our employees. The idea is that it grabs their attention and gives them something to think about.”
